In the early 20th century, the Springfield Hospital School of Nursing awarded diplomas in December to those who completed the two year course. The nursing uniforms for students were identical to those of the graduates with the exception of a black band on the nurse’s cap. This photograph shows three nursing students and one nurse in the maternity ward.
