Image of Mountain Park, Holyoke Massachusetts. Built in 1894 by the Holyoke Street Railway Company, Mountain Park remained in operation until it’s closing in 1987. It was a pleasant get away for the workers and was designed as a method of increasing revenue for the trolley company. Clearly visible in this photograph are the band- stand, the merry go round, the lily pond and the trolley tracks. A white observation tower can be seen in the middle ground, while a clear view of the Connecticut River can be seen in the background. A misty view of Holyoke is visible over the horizon.
