Covered bridge built in 1846 connected Chicopee center
with Granby Road and Chicopee Street. A.G. Spalding & Bros. building is
directly to the left at the end of the bridge. Since colonial times,
the area below the bridge was a rocky shallow area called the "Indian
wading place."
