situated that I could not, so I only put my letter in the Methodist Church for a while, and was not considered a member only had the privilege of a full member, so when I came here, I united in full with this church, where I hope to live as becomes a christian. I wish I could send you some thing which I know you want, and that I could get (a) suit or two of clothes from the Falls. I cannot get a suit of broad cloth clothes here for less than one thousand dollars, so I don't wear them much. I find I can wear home made jeans. I wish I had ten yards of your frocking, I would be proud of it now, though I did not like to wear it when I had it. You would laugh if you could see how we dress. But we do so willingly hoping there is a good time coming. I have got to have a pair of shoes, and if I have to buy them, they will cost me fifty dollars or more. What think you of the above prices? still we do not complain and will not for years if at last we can gain our independence.

I have got to be nearly as good a smoker as you used to be, father, I tell you I like my pipe as well as I do my dinner. What say you to that Jane, ditto Mary? I do not suppose I would know either Mary, Charles or Ellen, they must have grown so much, I wish I could see them. I would have some fun for a while if possible. The 29th of this month is a day that I often think of, how short the time seems since that day seventeen years ago. God grant that the prayers of that sainted mother may be answered. It seems but yesterday since she told me to meet her in Heaven. I must close. God bless you one and all. Pray for us who are far away. Though we are separated now we can be together
