I saw a lady not long since that knew my mother, she used to live in East Charlemont I think on the place that Thomas Judd used to live. She is a widow lady by the name of Sayers, and a very nice lady she is, she used to know the Trowbridges. I have a great many friends in this place and they are of the first class. Mary and I are members of the first class society, where I know you want us to be. I tell Mary that I thank my father for not liking low society any better, for he did not like for me to go with the High Streeters.
