Rev. & dear Sir,

I received your mailer at Boston yester-day, & the one mailer at South Weymouth today. I should be gratified to meet you at Weymouth & spend some time in that vicinity but I will tell you just how I am situated. I engaged to spend most of the time here during Miss Grant’s absence on a journey for her health, & to give daily religious instruction in school & to aid the teachers some in their duties. I made arrangements so that I could be absent a few days at a time, if need be, though I did not mean to be ab-sent very much. Just after I arrived here I was called unexpectedly to go to Norton, to convey the afflective intelligence to Miss Caldwell & in consequence, did not return here til Miss Grant had left. This week again, I have been quite sick all the week with a severe ague & now am just able to go out. This has been about the same as to be absent this week. I cannot therefore be ab-sent next week, but must calculate on being
