Description
Original thick cardboard-type cover of a numbers tablet entitled, Number Tablets for Supplementary Work in Arithmetic, published by A.S. Barnes & Co. of New York, The New Edition of 1886. On the back is a list of what the series comprises from No. A to No. 12. It is interesting to note that this particular tablet is not listed as part of the series. Perhaps this printed cardboard, if used as a backing for a plain paper tablet, was advertising for educational products available from the company. This cover was found in the attic of a house located not far from the Buckland Center School, which opened about 1860 and served the community for a century. The school was located on Upper Street in Buckland, Mass.
