Description
Exterior view of the jewelry store of Charles E. Monroe, later optometrist. The store was located at the Old YMCA building on the south side of Main Street in Southbridge. There are two store operating from this view of the premises. The jewelry business is on the right side of the image. There are retractable awnings with scalloped edges on the only the jewelry window. There are many cases of jewelry in the window display. The entrance has double doors and bisects the building with a single granite step. There are two ornamental columns, one on each side and the display windows on either edge of the picture. The building has a brick facade. The YMCA building, located at the corner of Elm and Main streets was razed in 1971.
