Description

Aerial view of Main Street Southbridge during the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the incorporation of Southbridge, a three-day celebration, held on July 2, 3 and 4, 1916. The President of the Executive Committee was Hon. Calvin D. Paige. The dedication of Notre Dame Church was the first event on the program. The brochure also announced that Town Hall would feature "An exhibition of articles of historic interest and a comparative exhibition of some manufacturing methods and products of 1816 and 1916 will be shown." A view of Main Street at the corner of Central Street, with the Hartwell Pharmacy, is provided. The Woman's Club float, which has four horses pulling the attractive wooden structure, decorated with greenery. Followed on by The Girls Club with two horseback riders and ladies marching in the rear. One of the horseback riders is carrying a sign for the club. The trolley tracks are shown in part. The Main Street is crowded with onlookers for the parade.
