Chapin Block on the corner of Hamilton and Crane streets, Southbridge, acquired the name Flat Iron due to the shape of the building. Built by Franics Luther (F. L.)Chapin and Mr. Cheney as a commercial emporium. A rare view of the clock is provided which was subsequently removed. The shingle and clapboard siding with the dentil work on two levels, are of note. Sign for J. Goldstein & Co. New York Dry Goods & Clothing House, sign for M. L. Brainard, Watchmaker & Jeweler, sign for Optician on the glass of one of the store fronts and sign for Ladies' Cream Cafe on a wooden sign, announce some of the business ventures operating in the building.























In front are some hitching posts for horses at the side of the curb. When in operation, the Southbridge Sturbridge Street Railway used to pass in front of this building. In 2004, the Flat Iron building was refurbished.
