Description

A poster for the Society of the Hearths of the French-American Union seeking members and subscribers willing to cooperate in the reconstruction of France after World War I. The poster shows the continuation of the involvement and good work the YMCA conducted during the first World War. One of the YMCA's many activities to support the war was running 1,500 canteens throughout France. These canteens were places where soldiers could purchase American made goods and have a place to relax and remember home. The YMCA also provided food, books, music, religious instruction, organized choirs and bands to help maintain the body, mind, and spirit of the soldiers as well as all prisoners-of-war.
