Portrait of Miss Katherine A. Kelly, R.N. of the Southbridge Visiting Nurse Association, at the Common in Southbridge, Massachusetts. Nurse Kelly is standing at the side of her service vehicle, dressed in a cloche hat, knee-length winter coat, hand bag and flapper style shoes with ribbons . The Southbridge Press, Friday November 11, 1921 announced the arrival of Miss Kelly, a veteran Red Cross nurse, to the Southbridge community. A graduate of Carney Hospital, Boston, with eight years experience in public health work in Ipswich, a year in Milford in a similar position to that of Southbridge - "She is getting a salary which one of her competency deserves...." On the door of the car, there is a Southbridge Visiting Nurse Association decal.
