28 illustrations of the streets, public buildings and general view of "The Garden City” - Page 17 - 848 Beacon Street, Newton Centre, Mass - The First Baptist Church in Newton is on the National Register of Historic Places. It was completed in 1888 by Boston architect John Lyman Faxon (1851-1918 or 1919). The bell tower was given in memory of Reverend Samuel F. Smith, minister of the church 1842-1854 and author of "America". -
