Subject

Spencer Wire Company, Inc.; Wire products industry--Employees; Annealing of metals; Wire product industry--Massachusetts--Spencer; Wickwire Spencer Steel Company

Description

Wire Workers pose outside the annealing department at the Spencer Wire Company in Upper Wire Village, in Spencer, Massachusetts. The annealing department was separated from the rest of the mill by a fire wall, as the heating of the wire in huge pots during the annealing process required hot fires that often resulted in the accidental destruction of the mills.
