It also talks about the virtues of the Howe Sewing Machine, Co. and contains advertisements and promotional materials for Howe Sewing Machines. The original article was published in the Atlantic Monthly magazine in May of 1867. Different versions of the book were created for retail stores to promote the Howe Sewing Machines. This copy was printed for Plummer and Wilder which had stores in Bangor and Portland Maine as well as Boston Massachusetts.
