Description

Collettes Model Bakery located in the basement of the Bacon/Collettes block in Spencer, Massachusetts. Two delivery wagons and their drivers stand in front under the sign. Main street and the Sugden Block are in the background. Collettes Model Bakery opened in December of 1911 and several carts were employed to deliver "Collettes White Rose Bread" and other baked goods to customers. In 1922 their horse drawn wagons were replaced with trucks. The bakery went out of business in the 1930's, unable to compete with the chain grocery stores and the large city bakeries.
