Residence of Mrs. Ellen H. Grout
description- – Residence of Mrs. Ellen H. Grout, East Main St. Her sons, Fred and Charles B., developed the Grout steam car in 1894. Theircompany, Grout Brothers Motor Carriage Works (later the Grout Bros. Automobile Co.) manufactured both steam and gasoline-powered cars. Thebusiness disbanded in 1913. The barn, location of the first workshop used by the Grout brothers, can be seen behind the house.

description- – View of early New Home Sewing Machine Company manufacturing building with workers posed in front, in windows and on the roof.The business began in 1860 as Clark&Barker. At the time of this photo the company manufactured the"Home"sewing machine. The company name was changed in 1882 to the New Home Sewing Machine Company. The newofficers were President, John W. Wheeler; Vice President, Andrew J. Clark; Secretary and Treasurer, William L. Grout (former superintendent).
