At the time of this photo the company manufactured the"Home"sewing machine. The company name was changed in 1882 to the New Home Sewing Machine Company. The newofficers were President, John W. Wheeler; Vice President, Andrew J. Clark; Secretary and Treasurer, William L. Grout (former superintendent).

The New Home Office

  • – View of the main office building for the New Home Sewing Machine Company located on South Main St. From 1865 the companymanufactured machines under various names i.e. Gold Medal, Home and New Home. The business was purchased by Consolidated Industries and moved toRockford, Illinois in 1928. The New Home sewing machine is currently manufactured in Japan by Janome.
