They weigh 3400 pounds and were sold at auction by the Hick?s Brothers to the W.B. Whiting Coal Company on April of 1907 for $1,000. The horses, dressed in their harnesses complete with horse brasses that are emblazoned with the company?s logo, are set to pull the coal wagon. The driver sits behind the horses while a man in a bowler stands beside the coal wagon. This may be Edward G. Whiting, owner and proprietor of the company.
