Seal of University of Maine
- – The seal is round and apparently made of dark red-brown leather. "THE UNIVERSITY OF MAINE" is embossed around the outer edge, with a border decoration and a star between each word. In the seal's center, stamped in gold foil, is the figure of two men standing on either side of a large ornate scroll. The man on the left is a farmer holding a scythe over hisshoulder; on the right is a sailor standing in front of a large anchor. The scroll is unrolled to show a pine tree with a moose reclining underneath. Above the scroll is a star and a banner reading "DIRIGO".
