  • – One of the earliest panoramic photographs of Wakefield, taken in 1866, when the town was still called South Reading. This view is from the top of Hart's Hill looking north up Main Street. In the background is Lake Quannapowitt. In the upper center is the First Parish Congregational Church on the Common. The cupola to the right is the Baptist Church, which was located at the corner of Main and Crescent Streets. The steeple just to its right is the First Universalist Society. Also visible in the right of the photo is the Cyrus Wakefield mansion on Main Street. From the Payro Collection.
  • – This photograph is a cropped copy of the 1866 photograph by Butterfield, also in the library's collection. The date on the back of the print (1856) is incorrect.
